the story of Tammy

In the early morning rush hour of a Wednesday morning in August, countless motorists passed by, swerving around a little badger laying in the road at Tolleshunt Knights, until two members of the public stopped to move her out of the road. They quickly realised that she wasn't dead, just unconscious! After trying to call a local vet and the RSPCA, they called someone who had our hotline number. They stayed with the little badger until help arrived.

The little badger, now named Tammy was taken to the vets where she was found to have no obvious injuries. She was given a course of pain relief and was then transferred to our rehab pen. She was with us for 6 days, enjoying in that time a varied diet including soft fruit, peanuts, raw eggs and golden syrup sandwiches!

The area where she was found was checked out and her sett was located. 6 days after she had come in to us, a small group, including the two people who had discovered her, met at dusk to release her.

A happy ending - a very lucky badger, and two new members for our group!!!
